Here you have some information for the meeting in Vigo next November.
I have booked rooms in several hotels. I would suggest making your reservations ASAP. Mention the acronym “COST626” when you make your reservation. The deadline for booking is the 15th of October. I negotiated a good price for the 4* Hotels because both of them are close to meeting place and pub area, but I also included information about cheaper hotels which they also offer a special price for this meeting.

From the airport leaves a Bus (number 9) every half an hour and takes 30 minutes to get downtown (the price is 130 ptas, 0.78 ERU). If you go to the hotels Ciudad de Vigo or Bahía de Vigo you have to get off in a bus-stop close to the COST626 meeting place, which is indicated in the map (you can ask the bus driver for the bus-stop in the street POLICARPO SANZ). If you go to the hotels Tres Luces or Ensenada you have to get off in the bus-stop of the URZAIZ street. If you want to take a taxi it should cost no more than 2500 ptas (15 ERU) to get the hotels from the airport.
The meeting place is indicated in the map: CENTRO CULTURAL CAIXANOVA C/ Policarpo Sanz nº 13. I booked one conference room and three seminar rooms for each WP. It has all facilities we had available in Stuttgart and Trondheim.
Informal dinner or drinks on Wednesdays 7th November will be at “MESON COMPOSTELA” Plaza de Compostela nº 6 (see map). Just go up to the first floor. You can have a drink, tapas or a proper dinner. We can meet there around 20:30, although you can drop there at any time.
I will inform you about the cost and menu (also for vegetarians) of Thursday and Friday dinners. Accompanying persons would pay the same.
The hotels and the meeting place are quite close to the shopping and pub areas (see the map). All the local people involved in the organization of this meeting will try to give you all the information that you require during the meeting about good pubs, place for shopping, etc (if you have time…).
I managed to get some money from the University to support the Saturdays´s excursion, so the price of the excursion is going to be not so bad. As mentioned above, the idea is that accompanying persons pay the same than rest of participants.
We will go from Vigo to an old Celta village (400 years BC, around 45 minutes by bus from Vigo). From this place you have a nice view of the river Miño estuary and Portugal. Then we will go to Bayona (nice small town, other 30 minutes) and have lunch in a castle (Parador Nacional de Bayona). We will have lunch in a medieval saloon. From this place there is a nice view of the sea and of the Ría of Vigo. After lunch we will go to Santiago de Compostela (60 minutes). We will visit the cathedral and the old town. If we have time, we can walk around the vinos area. Arrival time to Vigo by 22-24 h.
